Tiptoe Through the Tulips

Ben didn't have to work until the night shift yesterday, so we decided to drive up to Mt. Vernon and La Conner, WA to the Tulip Festival. It was about an hour and a half drive, but totally worth it. La Conner was an adorable little town and we had lunch there and walked around the shops. Then we went to the tulip farm. There were rows and rows of beautiful tulips and daffodils as far as the eye could see. They also had tulips to purchase, of course, and now I have 40 tulips around my house. It was too hard to pick which ones to take home and the price couldn't be beat.
Cole took his first nap of the day on the way up there, then he flirted with the other ladies at the restaurant while we ate lunch, and then he stayed awake until the very end of our walk through the tulips. He's so good on outings, it's amazing. We didn't hear a peep out of him all day.

One Year Ago...

I got my first positive pregnancy test! It was a very faint line, but there was a line and that's all that mattered. It's crazy to think how many great changes we've had this past year. I'm so grateful for everything God has blessed us with, especially our beautiful little boy. We couldn't ask for a better baby!

What a Week!

This last week quickly turned into a very crazy, busy, but fun one. On Monday we made a last-minute trip to visit Ben's parents in Tri-Cities to go through the stuff Ben has there since they're moving to Maui. Then on Thursday my mom and sister came to visit. We shopped, ate, did a few wedding things for my sister, and went down to the market. It was so much fun! Cole and I are very tired from our week. This week we have nothing planned except cleaning the house, but who knows, I'm sure something will come up!

Cole's First Easter

Cole had a wonderful first Easter. Unfortunately, Ben had to work for the beginning of it, but we had fun with our friend, Kit at church and then we went to Southern Kitchen for a yummy breakfast. After a nap, Ben came home and we opened Cole's first Easter basket. I couldn't resist ordering him a personalized basket that he'll use each year! I got so excited for Easter, I can't imagine what Christmas will be like. Someone's going to have to control me!

3 months!

Cole's 3 months today and last night he slept from 9:30 - 5:30! I couldn't believe it. I'm sure it was just a fluke considering he didn't sleep well the night before, but I'll take 8 hours of sleep when I can get it. I can't believe he's already 3 months old. He looks like such a little boy now and not a baby. Before I know it it'll be time to start giving him solid foods! This just goes by way too fast. It kind of makes me want to have another baby...just kididng! It's going to be a while before that happens.

Here are some things Cole's doing at 3 months:
*Sleeps in his crib during the night, not for naps though. We'll be working on this.
*He already laughs at mommy's singing. Last night I sang "What's Love Got to do with It?" because they were singing it on American Idol and he thought it was hilarious.
*Wears size 2 diapers and mostly 3-6 month clothes
*Weighs 13lbs and is 24"
*Can hold his head up
*He HATES tummy-time. Another thing we need to work on.
*He loves it when we read books to him
*He babbles a lot. I think he's going to be a talker, which isn't too surprising since Ben and I both talk a lot.
*He scoots on his back. When he wakes up he's at the top of the crib.
*He drools and drools and then drools some more. He's also working on fitting his whole fist in his mouth. Maybe by next month we'll be reporting a tooth.

New Orleans

This last week we went back to New Orleans for Rob and Mollie's wedding. We flew out on Wednesday and that night we met my people from dance for dinner and margaritas. On Thursday I got my hair done, went to the law firm where I used to work and introduced them to Cole, and then we went to one of our favorite restaurants, Dick and Jenny's, for dinner. Cole was a total ham for the ladies at the law firm! He just laughed and smiled at them forever. On Friday we went to Tulane and visited the academic advising center, then my favorite sushi restaurant, and then we went to rehearsal and rehearsal dinner at the Windsor Court. Cole was again, awesome at rehearsal dinner. Everyone was so amazed at how well he just sat there and looked around. Everyone held him and he didn't cry once the whole evening. After dinner, Lindsey came over and watched him while we went and had a drink with our friends. On Saturday Cole and I went out to dance while Ben got a shave with the other groomsmen. Then we had a wonderful time at the absolutely beautiful wedding! Our flights were kind of long on Sunday (8 hours of total flying) but Cole was awesome. He maybe cried for 10 minutes from Phoenix to Reno and that was it. It was wonderful seeing everyone, but very strange to be back and not sleeping in our house.
