Pretty Awesome Day

There are very few days when so many great little things happen and together they just make it an awesome day. Today was one of those days. First, Cole only woke up once Saturday night (I'll probably make up for that tonight for saying this, but that's ok). Then, we got in the car and drove to Park City for Oktober Silly Fest, which is the last day of the Park City farmer's market for the season. Park City was absolutely gorgeous! All of the trees were turning, it was a beautiful day, and Cole loved every minute of it. There were a ton of dogs around and he was grinning ear to ear the entire time. Dogs just crack him up. It's so cute! I should also mention that Cole slept on the way there and on the way back. I hate listening to him cry all the way home and he didn't make a peep in the car today, so that was super nice. We also got Starbuck's on the way there, and we stopped at Costco on the way home, and, y'all know those are two of the things that made it a great day for me too.

The best thing that happened today though was on the way home, Sarah and Jesse Altig welcomed their beautiful baby boy into the world! Owen Jonathan Altig was born at a healthy 8lbs 13oz and 21.5 inches long. Sarah was in labor for a LONG time and we're so happy that he's here and everyone is healthy. Congrats Sarah, Jesse, and, of course, Lilly!

Now, I'm sitting here watching all of my favorite shows that started back up tonight. Oh, and how could I forget...the Saints won! 3-0 baby!

Hill-McDougal Wedding

What a crazy busy weekend! On Thursday morning we left out house at 5am to make our 8am flight to Seattle. Once we got there, Cole had a doctor's appointment at 11am and Ben had an interview at noon. Cole's appointment went awesome. He's 18lbs 13ozs (40th percentile) and I don't know what his height was, but it was like the 26th percentile. The doc said he's doing great but he needs to eat 1/4 cup of cereal in the morning and a 1/4 cup in the evening so he gets enough iron. This is way more food than he eats right now in an entire day, so we're working on it.

After our appointments, we had some wedding errands to run and then we met up with Aunt Katie and went to dinner. We had fun with her and we stayed the night at the hotel with her. Cole spent the morning going on a walk with his Auntie while Mama ran some more errands. Then we made our way to Leavenworth just in time for rehearsal!

On Saturday I spent the day with the bridal party getting everything ready and Cole and Ben hung out with Grandpa and Grandma in Leavenworth. The bride, Kyndra, I've known since I was 6 and we danced together until high school. She actually lives in Tacoma, so it was great being near her all last year. She looked absolutely beautiful and the wedding was a ton of fun!
Then, on Sunday we walked around town for a bit before we made the trip back to Seattle and we got back to our house last night at midnight. We've been going nonstop since Thursday and we're all looking forward to a relaxing week. Cole's already taken a 2 hour long nap today!

And He's Off...

Cole officially started crawling today! He's been doing what we like to call a "peg leg" or "pirate" crawl for a couple of days now but at 2:35 today he started crawling like a normal baby should. I wouldn't say that he has mastered crawling yet, but I'm sure by the end of the week he'll be moving a lot faster. Well, I've got to get busy buying some baby proofing supplies online so hopefully it'll get here by the time we get back from our trip!

Why Lola Loves Cole

Here are a couple of videos of Cole's new tricks. First, and this is a very cute but not good habit, he learned that it's funny to feed Lola food from his high chair. Last night he fed her puffs and tonight he fed her his broccoli stick. 8 Months and he's already feeding the dog his veggies. I have a feeling we're going to need to exercise Lola more or she's going to be gaining some weight! The second video is him smacking his lips.

8 Months!

On Tuesday, Cole turned 8 months old. Here's what he's been up to:

*Weight: by my scale, 18lbs, which means he hasn't gained much in 2 months. We go to the pedi on Thursday, so we'll find out the exact weight and height then.

*Sizes: Diapers - 3, Clothes - 6-9 months

*Teeth: 4 chompers (he bit me really hard yesterday) *Update* 5th tooth is breaking through!

*Strength: On his 8 month birthday, Cole figured out how to get from his tummy, to his knees, and back into a sitting position. He sometimes forgets he knows how to get from his tummy back to sitting, but he does it more and more, which is a huge relief to me. He's also practicing his crawling skills everyday, but right now we're still stuck in the pulling himself on the floor stage.

*Personality: We all know Cole's a total sweet heart and loves to smile, esp at strangers. Everyone we see gets a huge kick out of him. Now he's doing this cute head tilt with his smile. Such a flirt! Oh, and he's even more attached to me now than he was last month. He's such a trooper too. We're always dragging him around places and he does such a great job.

*Babbles: Along with Mama, (not officially his first work, but I work on it everyday), he also calls something "A-aba". He's also testing the loudness of his voice. He started screaming in the bathtub the other night. He must like the echo in there or something.

*Sleep: After his two top teeth came in, he was doing better. Now we're back in another regression. His gums look swollen again, so I'm hoping that's the problem. We had to take the bumpers out of his crib and we'll be dropping the crib today or tomorrow. Now that he can get from his tummy to sitting, he can pull up on to his feet. I came in yesterday to get him from his nap and he was standing in the crib!

Dugway Visitors

This past week our good friends from medical school, Josh and Amanda, came to visit us in Dugway! We had not seen them since last Halloween and we were super excited to spend the week with them and for them to meet Cole. The first couple of days we hung out around Dugway. We went to the pool and the guys went golfing (after finding out that the golf course is only open from 5-9pm...classic!). If you ask Amanda what she thinks about Dugway, she'll tell you, "There are no words." She told me on multiple occasions what a wonderful woman I am for living here though they like how quiet it is :) We ate some good food and played a lot of Mexican Train (the first two nights Josh was on fire and went out almost every round, the third night he lost).
On Thursday we got out of Dugway and drove to Park City. We went to the Olympic Park where the guys rode on the nation's steepest zipline, we then went to the outlet mall, and then had a wonderful dinner in Park City after visiting the shops there. It was wonderful getting out of Dugway for a night and waking up in the mountains. Before heading to the airport, we took Cole to the Salt Lake City Zoo and then got some lunch at a local favorite restaurant, Ruth's Diner. It was a wonderful visit and we miss them so much already! We're planning a trip to go see them in Kansas City in the spring.
