Nola Bound

Tomorrow morning we're going to New Orleans for Rob and Mollie's wedding. We're so excited to introduce Cole to everyone and eat at some of our favorite places! Here are some pics from the last few days because I won't be posting from there. I'm sure I'll have a ton of fun pictures when we return.

Sleeping

Cole's becoming a very good sleeper at night. He technically slept through the night last night. According to the books, a baby has slept through the night if he slept for 5 consecutive hours. Last night Cole slept from 8:30 - 2:15, got up and ate, and then slept from 2:30 - 6. I actually had to get up and pump before he woke up to eat. This has kind of been the pattern the last couple of weeks, but last night was the first time he's slept longer than 3.5 hours. Let's hope he keeps it up! Oh, and all of this sleeping takes place in his crib! I haven't had to sleep holding him at night for a few weeks. Now we just have to get him to nap without being held.

Big Week

We had a very busy week last week. Aunt Katie came to work up here and she stayed with us from Monday - Wednesday. Then Thursday, Grandma and Grandpa came. On Friday Cole had to get his last shot. On Saturday, Grandma, Grandpa, Mommy, Daddy, Cole, and Lola drove down to Portland. Cole stayed with Auntie Sarah and Uncle Jesse and gave them some practice for their little one coming in September while we all went to see Wicked with Tu Tu, Grandpa Jimmy, and Aunt Katie. Then the grandpas went to watch the Zags play (and win and amazing game) and we all went to dinner! We got home Sunday night and Cole's pretty much been sleeping since then. We both went to sleep at 8 last night!

Dugway

It's official, the Jabara's are to report to Dugway Proving Grounds on July 22nd. For those of you that don't know (and don't feel too bad the majority of American's don't know) Dugway is in Utah. Now, before y'all go running out and buying plane tickets because I know you're all dying to visit Dugway, here are a few facts:
Population: 2,016 (Sarah so politely pointed out that she had more people in her high school)
Area: 5.2 square miles
It's 75 miles SW of Salt Lake City, but it takes about 1.5 hours to get there because you have to go over a pass apparently.
Restaurants: Subway (I will most likely hate Subway by the end of the year)

OK, in all seriousness, Ben and I have been joking a lot about Dugway since we found out, but it's not going to be all that bad, I hope. Basically, Dugway isn't even a real town, it's just an Army post. So even though Dugway doesn't have any grocery stores, there is a commissary. There's a community center, workout facility, golf course, schools, daycare, and a clinic where Ben will be the doctor (I know, kind of scary that Ben's in charge of a clinic). We'll end up living on post, mainly because it doesn't sound like there's any other housing and we'll probably end up going into Salt Lake at least every other week, mainly for a Target and Starbuck's fix. Things are definitely going to be different, but it could be worse, Ben could be going to Afghanistan instead, so I'm not complaining...yet.

Check-up

We just got back from Cole's 2 month appt. He did a relatively good job considering he got 2 shots and an oral vaccine. He cried of course, but I didn't. The worst part is that they were out of a vaccine, so we have to go back next week for his last shot!
Here are his stats:
weight: 11lbs 13oz (40th%)
height: 23" (40th %)
head: 40.9cm (60th%)
Other than his shots, everything else looked good. He has cradle cap and we've been using dandruff shampoo per the pediatrician's instructions, but it's not going away, so they gave us a little brush to use in the bath and that should take care of it.

Day 62

2 Months!

I can't believe Cole's 2 months today! Here are some of the things he's been up to lately:

*Sleeping in his crib starting at about 9 or 10pm. He of course still gets up to eat every 3 hours, but then goes right back to bed. At around 6 he sleeps with mom for a bit once dad leaves for work.
*Can hold his head up for about a minute if he's sitting up
*He loves to go on outings and is so great in his carseat and stroller
*He likes to lay on his back in the changing table or the couch and kick his feet. I've been looking for a toy that has like a foot pedal that will activate some lights or music above his head when he kicks it, but haven't found it yet. If anyone sees one or knows of one, please let me know because he'd love it.
*Sticks his lower lip out before he starts to cry. We'll get a picture of that soon, it's pretty pathetic.
*Smiles a lot. Esp. when mommy goes away and then comes back. He also smiles at daddy and Lola.
*Sucks his thumb
*Likes it when we sing to him. His favorite song is Single Ladies. Mommy dances with him and changes the words to "Single Babies" He also enjoys "Old MacCole"
*He weighs 11lbs, wears size 0-3 month clothes and size 1 diapers. He just started fitting into his newborn shoes.
